Learning pact

These principles guide the creation of and participation in this course.

  1. Solo journey, community support This is a self-paced, solitary course. Focus on your own needs and growth. When you can, share with the IF community your work or insights. Your contributions strengthen others.

  2. Reflect honestly You are here to learn. Learning requires honest, careful examination. Engage seriously with each work, and be honest about your own response and habits.

  3. Be generous This is not a zero-sum game. Credit the work of others, and encourage people doing the work alongside you.

  4. Experiment bravely Many ideas just don't pan out. That's okay. You nevertheless need to try them. Failure is cheap here and progress depends on churning through it.

  5. Do the work Learning requires a thought to go from your head through your fingertips out into the world. Passive engagement won't teach you as much as writing words, sketching designs and cutting code.

  6. Serious play Take the work seriously, but not too seriously. Explore cool games and make cool things to share with cool people. Finish what you start, but be willing to let it go. Make the best neat dent in the universe that you can.
